‘Absence’ is a short poetry film, based on the poem by Elizabeth Jennings – a love letter to London on super 8.

Narrated by Jonah Hauer-King and directed by Céline Ribard.

Borne out of my love for words and moving images intertwined, I started this series of visual poems a few years ago when I decided to take my super 8 camera into the street to capture the beauty of the multicultural city that is London. A tangible and tactile medium, shooting on film allows me to stay present in the moment - rather than watching it happen through a screen - and look for hidden gems in our everyday moments. This particular poem really resonated with Jonah and myself, as an ode to former lovers and nostalgia.
