Endlessly Falling Backwards
I am a lucid dreamer and sometimes the dreams take a dark turn. I think it is pretty common for us to dream about falling and in some dreams the fall never ends – wee continuously fall and it is both exhilarating and terrifying. I always remember the one of the lines of Bjork’s Hyperballad – “and when I land, will my eyes be open or closed?”
His Soul Left by His Own Hand
I had a phone call with a long-term friend of mine. He had recently had both of his parents die and it only complicated his mental and physical health. He stopped posting on social media and one day I had a terrible feeling. The day before he had taken his own life. If youo or someone you love is facing mental-health issues, please reach out and help – there are services that can help and lend you support.
there is still a long way to go
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way–in short, the period was so far like the present period that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.”
The sun in our eyes
We live in a world where we no longer trust what we are told. “Truth” is not clear – just as things are when we have the sun in our eyes.
the last time tony bennett remembered lady gaga’s name
American jazz singer Tony Bennett gave his last performance at Radio City Music Hall at the age of 90. He has advanced Alzheimer’s Disease, yet when prompted to perform musically, he remains sharp as ever. In a moving documentary about this final performance, his collaborator Lady Gaga mentions that Bennett could not remember her name for several months, yet, in the heat of the final performance, he remembers it without error. The power of the human mind is both fragile and resilient.
