“Hide Your Name” is an experimental and mostly typographic animation that depicts the vulnerability of people around the world who are marginalised or colonised or victims of power politics with a special focus on South Asia. The ordinary people of this region have to fight at times authoritarian regimes, invasion and imperialism, war and genocide, and violent extremism. Places of worship are frequently under threat of various forms of militancy. This film stands against any politics of exploitation and supremacy. We have seen that in any war children suffer the most. Images of distressed (or disappeared) children in this film remind us how cruel this world has become, being blind to money and power. Living in this world in 2022 has become hectic, the future, from this point of view, is bleak. Dystopia is already here. However, putting a bit more thinking into today’s actions will help us reach a future to be proud of.
