In a house in a European town, Vito, a former pilot, is working in his garage. After leaving the racing world, he is totally dedicated to the invention of new technological appliances. In his world of machines and tools, a hologram, shaped as his deceased wife, is the only one able to give him some comfort. In the city, everyone is in turmoil for a new automotive race to be held shortly. Vito from his living room listens to the interview of a colleague and relives the most tragic moment of his life. He remembers his last race, during which too much determination and naivety caused an accident in which his wife, Olivia, died. The voice of the interviewer, however, helps him to look at the story from a new perspective. Vito decides to fix his racing car, but he will have to give up that little illusion that gave him strength to go through all these years.

Cristian Ciumac, author and first time director of “Machines”. For his degree project he collaborated with 15 other colleagues to realize a pilot for an animated series. He started to write down some notes during the pandemic, in April 2020. In less than a year they started the production of the first episode of the series and in July 2021 the team presented the episode at their graduation ceremony. The story behind the series is about some deep and personal thoughts about Cristian’s background and his opinion on the contemporary world and the vision for the coming one. He is confident that a complete content of “Machines” will be realized with or without a budget in the coming future.
