Ghone, the sonic exploration vehicle of John Kontandreopoulos, since 2011 has traversed from the electroacoustic music, through the drone tradition of Asia, field recordings and prepared instruments, to modular synthesis and pure noise, without any stylistic obsessions or boundaries.
Notable moments of this journey so far have definitely be his debut tour in 2011 in Eastern Europe supporting the Canadian drone metal duo of Nadja, contributing abstract no-input noise at the latest Rita Mosss European tour in 2019 as a guest band member, the two-day long self-generating live sound installation accompanying the artist’s Friki Crux live painting performance in 2014, his participation at Fresh Music Festival at the historic Pindaros Hotel in Athens curated by six d.o.g.s the same year, the live sound design for Panos Profitis’ and Despina Charitonidi’s performance at 1st Kantharos Gatherings curated by Eleni Tranouli at Dexamenes Seaside Hotel in 2019 and most recently the quadraphonic collaborative performance with This Darkness Of Mine (aka Vaggelis Moschos) at the National Observatory Of Athens.
He has released 14 recordings through labels such as Coherent States, Submersion Records, Catch The Soap and Somehow Ecstatic, when not self-publishing online and in limited handmade packaging.
Syd Sessions are casual meet and greet events that take place in a small - in size- record store named Syd, located at the beating heart of Athens, Greece. Artists have the opportunity to chat with their audience while people can watch exclusive gigs by both the ever-growing Athenian alternative scene and international artists that tour and stop by. Syd Sessions is a precious asset of the cultural life in Athens, broadly known for their excellent and affable events, which enrich the music activity in the city life.
For the 2nd ADAF online and the 17th edition of Athens Digital Arts Festival | tactus we formed a precious synergy, unlike any precedent, to present an exemplary program composed by extraordinary local electronic artists that we believe every digital enthusiast should know about and take notice of.
This program is materialising with the support of the audiovisual group, project 210 who aim in documenting the essence of the city of Athens, and by the precious curation of Manos Karakatsanis, renowned greek musician and mastermind behind Syd Sessions, all in the super interesting and slightly unconventional premises of Syd Records Store in Protogenous Str in Psyrri Athens.
All sessions are taking place in camera due to covid restrictions for physical spaces.
